Flagging and Hiding - Please Read

From talking to people on the forum it’s become apparent that there are two features where we need to get the message out a bit better . 

Please Flag Dodgy Things 
You will notice on every post there is a “Flag” button. This is there for you to draw a modmin’s attention to a post that you feel shouldn't be there.
I've heard a few people suggest that flagging is just for spam, or that they haven’t flagged something because it would have been deleted by a mod if it wasn't OK.
This is a busy forum and all the modmins are volunteers so they don’t read all of the posts on the site (nor do they attempt to) furthermore the first thing we do when we spot a post that looks a bit iffy is to check if anyone has flagged it and if no one has it’s likely we will let it ride in all but the most extreme cases. 
We can't promise that if you do flag something we will remove it (especially in Speakers Corner where we are trying to be as hands off as possible), but it’s the best way to let us know what the community thinks is and isn't OK.

Hiding Boards
Not everyone will wish to participate in all elements of the site and a number of people have said that they don't like the content on the “Speakers Corner” and “Off Topic” boards. 
If you don't wish to participate in a board or see its content you can hide it by clicking the gear icon on the homepage of the forum and selecting “Hide”
Once a board has been hidden it will not appear in recent discussions. If you want to see it again you can change your view from “Followed Categories” to “All Categories” in the Category Filter on the left hand side of the page where you can also unhide it again if you wish.
