So it's joss sticks on the headstocks these days not a cigarette smouldering away!

Impressive playing for sure...and a whole range of smug expresdions ;-)

I very much enjoyed that! I MUST get another nylon acoustic. Amazing to hold such a crowd captive on the street!

Superb stuff... but a little lost in the ocean of reverb he's got going on.

He's better than me for sure…

… but actually I don't think he's really that good. Very showy, but not a lot of variation in the whole piece really.

Watch a proper classical guitarist if you want to see really impressive fingerstyle nylon-string playing.

I can agree with that.  It's a trickbag.  But it's a good trickbag.  I'd put odds on that Gabriela could play him under the table.

  • I'm impressed, have a Wow.   He fuses classical and flamenco in a simplistic way, with a big focus on the most dynamic aspects of both styles, and, he's got rhythm.  As has been stated, showy, and variation lacking but hey, I never drew crowds that big when I played at busker festivals.......

  • I have watched that guy before its quite nice and melodic and he is certainly an excellent player but having watched John Williams play classical guitar at Wigmore Hall it just doesn't compare.

  • Oh yes.

I notice Paco is an anagram of capo, which he is using in this song.

I was always puzzled about these guys using capos when they were playing instrumental music.  I always thought the capo was for people who sing and need to transpose a song to a key they sing better in.  Then, about 12 years ago I was opening for Oscar Lopez, (a Canadian via South America), who played a sort of similar style of flamenco when I saw that he used a capo, so I asked him why.  His answer: to bring the action down, the extra fraction of an inch makes for more precision.  He had his at the second fret throughout his set.

Now if I could just grow my fingernails like his then I'd be a happy bunny. I play finger-style on both nylon and steel strung acoustics, but always with the fat of my fingers... my nails are just too soft when I grow them.

They look like acrylics to me.  Too clean looking for real nails.
