I remember there was a recommendation for someone in Edinburgh on the old MR site. Anyone recall who?

Rich at Stormshadow guitar works in Sheffield is top notch. He has set up and fret dressed my les Paul and done set ups on a few other guitars for me. Also he stocks dimarzio's and builds awesome axes.

For anyone wanting work done on acoustics in the Glasgow area, Ricky Claffey is great! Young guy, passionate about guitars and really takes the time to make sure make sure he understands exactly what you want.

And some of the guitars he is building are phenomenal: http://claffeyguitars.com/

Was round there this week and took a look at the African Blackwood OM you will see on the website. Stunning guitar in the flesh.

Another vote for feline guitars in Croydon. Excellent, prompt & honest service, top drawer quality and generally nice guys who always make time for you despite being worked off their feet.

+1 for Strung Out Guitars in Glasgow. Great wee shop - enthusiastic, friendly, good value and well skilled.

I'll also throw in a +1 for Steve Robinson, aka Manchester Guitar Tech. I haven't used him for guitar work, but his follow up service after I bought some nitro was superb.

  • Since when was Portsmouth (and even Southampton) in the South West?
Money, guitars, cars, football, beer and women - roughly in that order.  Also, black things are good.  All hail the Lords Black, Burnel, Cornwell and Greenfield - and Squire Warne.  Currently levelling buildings with a Precision bass for the unrivalled www.daphnedontfloat.com

  • Alberto @ Zioli Guitars and Amps. He works out of Scar Studios in Camden. He does repairs plus he builds guitars and amps, I think he does (or used to) some work for Phillipe Dubreuille on Denmark Street. His rates are extremely reasonable.

Guitaraid in Putney are also really good.
