That you blow at Christmas and a sprung coil of coloured paper tubing extends out, usually with a brightly coloured small feather on the end and they make a hooting noise ?

I did try googling "Christmas Hooters" but what came back wasn't quite what I meant !

They are called "Langue de belle-mère" (mother-in-law's tongue).

In French anyway.
