Hmmm - must be cherry for me - that's my ES-330, SG Classic, Guild Starfire II and Epi Casino.

What a glorious double-brace of instruments!
Do you find the 330 and the Casino are pretty much identical, sound-wise?
    Why thank you!

Indeed they are, and possibly the Casino shades it unplugged as being a tad more lively... but the ES-330 was my present to myself for my 60th birthday, and is what I always wanted.  The Casino has been in its case ever since, which is a bad thing.

I think it's time Steven found a new tattooist....
Worse than that, it should have said 'Stephen'...

I like this sort of thing:

but lighter - almost white on the edges and a normal blue in the middle. Dunno what it's called - inverse blue burst? When I treat myself to a custom shop number in a few years it'll be that colour.

Apart from that 3TSB or black is my usual preference.
    All practice and no theory

Used to hate sunbursts and the Rick fireglo.

Like them now, especially a vintage two colour burst.

LP Blue is lovely. Also gold gibsons, and the fender golds can be lovely too.

  • I like bursts - especially those often called vintage or dark. I like them to go almost black at the edge. That said, I'd love a blue guitar.

Generally don't like sunburst on any guitar type. I've an MIJ Jag in 3TS that I had planned to refinish in lake placid blue, but it's playing so well I'm reluctant to do anything to it. I've removed the tort pickguard and added a white one so it looks a bit better.

Anything looks good in black, but black strats bore the bejesus out of me, except when it has a matching headstock. Seen a few of those around and they are lovely.

    For Gibson semi-hollows, cherry.

    Noise, randomness, ballistic uncertainty.

I really like wine red on a Les Paul. Or a 'burst on a Les Paul (heritage cherry, honey burst if it's got a bit of red in it, light burst, etc). Heck, I really like the kinda washed cherry Fender Strats you can get as well. Even though I love other finishes like I love black/ebony, as I have a black LP and I have a black Gretsch as well... but I really get on board with reds, bursts and black!
