I understand that modding is fun on guitars, but it hurts me to see people do drastic mods on expensive guitars - even if they could afford to do it or the modding process creates sentimental value
Luckily there are really good luthiers around that could restore guitars, like the pictures you have additionally posted. It always haunts me to see others doing a headstock repair/restoration because mutilating a headstock ruins the neck's integrity and strength when under string tension.
It genuinely makes me feel sick to my stomach to see some of those vintage instruments molested and abused so badly!
I like the Tele too, it looks like something Junior Brown would play - and clearly built like that not modded, since there's no normal Tele control cavity.
I've seen several 'The SG's and 'The Paul's with severe body seam separation too, so it wouldn't surprise me if it just fell of with a hard knock.
