Should add I gigged for years with 2 Quad 606 power amps through a control unit into 2 Yamaha cabs... Still have one of the 606's and a Quad 34 for my home hi fi - they must be getting on for 30 years old now. My old man has the other and that's in fine health too...
I have no idea how it all hung together, my old man was an audio engineer and rigged it up - all I remember was that there was a massive fan involved to keep it all cool!

Peavey Bandit - Bass and Treble on full, Mids right down - Thrash metal heaven. (I was probably 16?)
I think its still in my mates studio, but he might have binned it by now.
Marshall 9000 Power Amp, with 9001 Pre-Amp - I loved this thing, sounded killer for the metal (and classic rock, although it was metal bands I was in at this time) I bought it from somewhere on Denmark Street (before the internet) and carried it home on the train, blood was literally seeping out of the skin of my fingers where they had made a shitty handle from gaffa tape. That thing weighed a ton! It used to pop fuses all the time, and the floorswitch was shit, but apart from that it was great - I ran a POD 2.0 through the power amp later in life in a Hardcore band, and actually sounded really good - I then ran the POD through the FX return of a friends Marshall jubilee 2550(?) Live for a few years until someone robbed the POD at a gig at the 12 Bar.
Sadly left to rust and rot in my parents garage for far too long when I had no house. Ended up taking them to the tip. Always regret letting that happen.
Marshall Artist (1973ish?) swapped out the greenbacks with 100watt celestions (I think) from 2 Marshall 1912 cabs.. Cheapo dirt pedal in the front. What was I thinking! actually sounded great for the Grunge/Rock band I was in.
Had a stint with e valvestate 80 head, sounded shitty but was so light!!
Another one that was left to rot then binned. Where it belonged to be honest.
Ran a Line 6 Flextone II Head live for a while, actually not too bad, lots of shows in London meant carrying gear on trains/tubes and this was a godsend for that, so light.
Still have it but the power switch is knackered, keep meaning to replace the switch. Sounds great at low volumes.
Laney Pro Tube A.O.R.100 series 2 - This thing is a beast. Sounds immense, sadly my crushing tinnitus means I'll probably never use it in anger again. Still have it
Tweaker 15 Head - its great, still have it but don't really use it... should sell it I guess.
VHT Special 6 Ultra - Sold to a someone here, kinda regret selling it, sounded fantastic clean with some nice tubes in it, and a great pedal platform, loved every dirt pedal I threw at it.
Palmer Eins, great fun little micro valve head, with a hi-z out so you can run it on your board like a pedal, into the front of another amp, crazy. Still have it.
And my Regular Daily Driver - Fuchs 4 Aces. Took me a while to get on with it as its SO loud for 4 watts, but with a jettenuator or a FX loop passive volume this thing is my favourite ever home amp (so far). The OD is so thick and meaty, and the cleans pretty 'sparkly' I love it.
Yamaha little THR5 thingy, great for living room noodling.
I think that's it?
Oh I had a MJW combo for a while from someone here, but it was WAY too agressive for me and didn't clean up, so moved it on to a fellow fretboarder. It was great but a one trick pony.

Back then it was because I didn't know any better when I was just starting, but if I do now it will be because it's as independent of any amp as I can get. I'm already doing that with bass, more or less - I get my sounds from pedals, and I can use any amp as long as it's loud enough. For guitar I'm planning to use my Peavey Special if I need a gigging amp - as a purely clean make-louder box with a multi-FX in front - but I could probably just as easily go through the PA.
