What guitar(s) are you currently favouring and why?

Currently on rotation in my stable is this 'Telemaster' thing and tree trunked neck Strat. both because they have HUGE necks, plus they also have great trem stability and rather nice pickups (Oil City & BK).

So through a cranked amp they both sound lovely.

I really am a Fender 25.5" scale length person as well. Even though I do enjoy fixed bridges and shorter scale lengths, my home is this scale neck.

  • My main gigging guitar for almost 5 years of playing in a wedding band has been my MiM Telecaster.

Why? Tuning stability, enough variety of sounds to cover all requirements, and, moreover, isn't too RAWK.

Have a hankering to try my LP Studio out live again soon, but that would require some EQ tweakage to get the sound right for the wedding gigs - Don't want it to be too full and thick. Partly because we have a rhythm guitarist I have to leave space for, and partly because I like that slightly "open" and "airy" LP sound like Jimmy Page, rather than a full on Gary Moore thing..I'm a fan of both, to listen to, but for my own playing I prefer the former.

You should have one in the shed and one at work as well.

  • The SG ... its strings aren't as knackered as the others

My guitar addiction / mental illness means my house is full to the brim with bloody guitars and I haven't the heart to part with any of them.

I've a guitar hanger in our living room and whatever guitar is hanging on that is the one I'm playing the most. Currently it's my SG Classic in Ebony Stain. Lovely neck. A great guitar to write songs on. Spongy!

    Noise, randomness, ballistic uncertainty.

  • I favor all of them.  Cause they're guitars.

For me it's 'Daphne Blue' on the right.  It is the only Strat I have had (so far) that has just been 'right' in every way.
