Sell me your Sunface (BC183 or Germanium)
What's Hot
Right. I’ve wanted to try one of these for ages and the latest TPS has convinced me to make a video comparing my cheaper fuzzies to a boutique fuzz.
Will the Sunface be loads better? I don’t think so, but I want to try.
What have you got?

Also I'm broke
See that? That's a Sunface that is. Thanks to @Kim, my hunt for a germanium fuzz is over. And I understand Dan's face. The Surface isn't about simply providing a sound: it allows you to feel around for the level of overdrive you want and then it forces you to respond to it. It's not a simple case of kick it on, leave it on. When I dial the Strat volume back to 8 from 10, I get a lovely clean (slightly overdriven) sound. If anyone's interested, they're CS 69 pickups in the Strat and that's @Alex335's MJT body. The ZVEX SHO gives me a little more clarity, and I use the GI Fuzz (silicon) for the high overdriven fuzz. The NKT 275 white dot is not going to give you the high gain a silicon fuzz will, so I will keep the GI for that - they both stack well together, AND the Surface plays well with my 90's Cry Baby.
BUT the biggest revelation for me was plugging my Burny SG directly into the pedal and playing that. That's awesome! Doomy, Sabbathy / Stoner tones. Oh - and that cleans up (well, reduces fuzz) with the volume pot too. I'll post some sound clips / video at some point. Long story short - yes, it was worth it.
