The Velvet is smaller I think, if that's a consideration.
It sounds brilliant with a vibe which is why I got it as it happens.,
I've since ditched the vibe but the velvet remains: two things I like about it: one is that that "fuzz" is pushing it a bit -- basically I don't think it's that fuzzy however it is capable of this kind of really ott overdrive/distortion sound which sounds brilliant (if you like that Neil Young, my amp's about to die, sound).
Second thing is that the volume on that thing is incredible.
There's a third thing too: it's got a toggle switch and I love the bassier voiced setting but I have to refrain from using it in gigs cos everyone and their dog complains (boo!) so I keep it on the tight setting. Still a monster.
Absolutely one of my favourite pedals.

The Velvet I thought is more aiming to sound like the full signal chain i.e. to give you the ball park tone of hitting a cranked stack with a fuzz. Sort of amp in a box for the whole signal chain.
I've got the velvet and it's great into a clean amp whereas I probably wouldn't use a traditional fuzz that way. Ymmv though.
Very powerful tone controls, so I can shape it however I want. Decent range of gain too, and pretty noise-free for a pedal chucking out such filth.
I may keep this one at least a week
