The challenge is now open, and remains open for submissions until 11:30pm on 23rd June 2018
All you have to do is ...
Write a riff. You can include whatever else you want in the mix, but the main focus must be on the riff. Most entries will probably be guitar based riffs, but they don't have to be.
Keep it to a maximum of 50 seconds. This is about riffs, not songs.
Send your entry (as an mp3) to riffs@theFB.co.uk
Include your forum name in the email.
Voting will start soon after the submission deadline of 23rd June 2018, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.
First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point
Voting will end on 11.30pm 30th June 2018
The order and scores of the top three entries will be announced soon after the voting ends. If there are 8 or more entries, then the order and scores of those in the top half will be announced.
No prizes. It's just for fun.
It's not a competition.

But still heavy.
Just checking. Your entry isn't in my emails. Is it still on it's way?
OK. Got it now and it's in the playlist in the RRotM37 thread.
Done mine. So there are now two in the playlist in the original post.
Added to playlist. That makes 4.
how are you getting that much volume in your mixes? School me please!
Limiting to remove high transients helps. I use Voxengo Elephant as my master limiter which is excellent and my favourite, but there are cheaper and free alternatives you could investigate as well.

I set the threshold to -3.5 and the output to -0.5, this is after an SSL bus comp clone on the master bus to add some light (2:1) compression and a fair bit (around 6db) of makeup gain.

That makes 5 entries.
