Here's the 46th Riff of the Month (RotM) Challenge.
The challenge is now open, and remains open for submissions until 11:30pm on 24th August 2018
All you have to do is ...
Write a riff. You can include whatever else you want in the mix, but the main focus must be on the riff. Most entries will probably be guitar based riffs, but they don't have to be.
Keep it to a maximum of 50 seconds. This is about riffs, not songs.
Send your entry (as an mp3) to riffs@theFB.co.uk
Include your forum name in the email.
Voting will start soon after the submission deadline of 24th August 2018, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.
First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point
Voting will end on 11.30pm 31st August 2018
The order and scores of the top three entries will be announced soon after the voting ends. If there are 8 or more entries, then the order and scores of those in the top half will be announced.
No prizes. It's just for fun.
As people submit their entries, I'll post them below to hopefully promote some discussion on approaches used.
It's not a competition.

No problem from me. I have got a punk style track ready to go for next month's SotM which was requested by @flying_pie but I don't mind changing plans. It depends what others think and whether @flying_pie is OK with a change of plan. I'll just submit my 'punk' track for next month's RotM.
maybe let the rotm run as is and @stratman3142 picks the backing for sotm out of all the entries regardless of which one wins rotm? If there is something suitable!.
In my limited song writing experience I tend to use sparser chorus type stuff for soloing and write riffs as riffs should be. I'd prefer it stayed that way.
Having said that, some ROTM stuff might be great for soloing over and if be happy for any of my entries to be used if they suited
Four entries now in the playlist.
It's in the playlist. That makes 5 entries.
