Juniors Wailing - needs another guitarist

    Oh no it doesn't
    ;)

Given that I've got the talented Mr @Bridgehouse on bass, I can cover rhythm & lead on that.  About time I did some lead work.

Unless anyone else wants to put their hand up of course ...
I was thinking more about valuable use of the available time if only one guitarist is playing. If it’s only a three piece jam band is that sensible?

@Roland has created a great set of song chord and lyric guides, these should help you learn the song and will also help others be able to practice it with you on the day. Thanks Roland!

    Rolands excellent song guides:-

@Legionreturns Can you confirm what your playing as I've always played the verse as Em7 - D - C - G5 (sliding to B5) but got G down as opening chord on cheat sheet (Dancing in the moonlight).
I’m sure @Roland would be happy to check/modify if you think there’s any errors in the song sheets.

Ah, let me update my sheet. Think I pasted into the wrong column for that.

Actually @markblagon - I was thinking of withdrawing from *everything* and opening up slots for newbs to step into.

Or, if me pulling out of some songs make them non-viable, then they get chucked and others put in their place that might be more popular.  I realise that the Quo & JJ Cale tracks were my suggestions, and they're looking pretty unpopular.  Chuck them if you like and put something else in their place.

The point of these sessions is about encouraging people who've not played before to come along and get the experience of playing in a group environment, so lets make sure that the new people coming along to Quad get to do what they want to do.

I've done it, it was great fun and I'd love to do it some more (I don't get to play elsewhere anymore), but maybe it's time to step aside and let others have a play?

@Shelders ;; This was a few days ago. I'm still getting better, but slightly hampered as I can't fret with my index finger yet. Give it another month and I'll have full use of my hand again!

    Verse progression goes E - D - C - G but the bass intro starts on a G

Dude...I find this song much easer with pick on Bass...

  • Newcomers - don’t be put off by songs filling up or slots being occupied - let us know what you fancy trying (if anything) and your name will go on the list regardless!

If we have to do songs twice then that’s absolutely fine - it happens pretty often!
Given all the support I had at my first jams I'd love to have the opportunity to support anyone new to the jams on anything im on if that helps anyone :)

I was hoping we’ll get others to sign up to play on that rather than drop it. There’s been a surge in interest for the available slots so I hope it will fill.

Don't let @Bridgehouse hear you say that!

In all honesty, I've tried it both ways, and although it's marginally easier with a pick, I think it sounds better with fingers. (Take no notice of the tone on that, I wasn't using my bass amp or FX pedals...that was straight into the clean channel on my Katana head, using only the internal 5" speaker) Most of my problems are because of my non functioning left index finger, which will be better  or at least useable by November.

    @mrkb ;;

Definitely take me off Dancing in the Moonlight - @legionreturns has taken that.

And take me off Rocking & L'il Devil as those are easy places to start for bassists and I'm really not bothered on those, I was just filling gaps where more deserving candidates might be persuaded to emerge ....

    :)

Em7 vs G depends on what the bass player is doing. I wrote it as G because I too heard Phil Lynott play G in the bass.  There’s no reason why you can’t play Em7.
