  • I think this will be great, the LT in its larger form probably makes for easier editing patches and the like but for a small form box with the full sound quality of Helix I'm sure it'll be a winner.

    I was wondering if Helix would do something like this but as nothing was forthcoming, I bought a helix LT the other week!

    I really don't like the overall look and design of the LT. The full fat floor model is great and feels so well engineered. The LT doesn't do it for me. The HX Effects is still a bargain.

    This is like a high end POD/Zoom B3/Zoom G3.

  • So this thing is also an audio interface? I’m starting to think you’d need to be mad not to have one.

    Yes. It's a USB (4 channel  I think) audio interface.

    I think this thing looks seriously cool and I'm sorely tempted. That said, knowing what I'm like I'd want all the routing options that the full fat one gives you.

    I like that .. it would work for me as I use a lot of pedals .. decent amp sims, stereo loop .. IRs .. small form factor .. what's not to like?

    Worth posting this just for the cool T-Shirt!

    Is it me, or does the Line 6 guy in this sound like they've disguised his voice?? I kept on waiting for him to say "you've got 2 hours to pay the money or you'll never see your family again!"

  • Are the delays and reverbs on the helix top notch? Last line 6 product I had was the M9 and thought they were extremely meh!

    I want one! I've long been frustrated that you can either get quality modelling with all the bells and whistles, or a simpler smaller format with low end modelling. This bridges the gap nicely.

  • Be interesting to see people A/B compare the HX Stomp and the Headrush gigboard objectively...

    My trading feedback

    is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

    The Stomp plus Behringer's inexpensive MIDI board would make a very decent rig, saving quite a bit over the full fat Helix.
    As long as you were ok with half the processing power
    i still think you’d be better off with an LT

    So Atomic start with a 3 button model, then launch a unit with 12 and a cut down version with 2 and then decide 6 is best.
    Headrush start with 12, then decide to launch a unit with 4.
    Line 6 start with 12, then launch a unit with 3 (and also an FX only version with 8 buttons in the meantime).

    So if you need to choose between them, just decide in advance how many buttons you want:
    2 = Atomic Amplifire box
    3 = Line 6 HX Stomp
    4 = Headrush gigboard
    6 = Atomic Amplifire 6
    8 = Line 6 HX FX (athough you will need an amp too)
    12 = the choice is yours!

    ...and there's an obvious gap in the market for a 10 button new gen modeller.
    Just realised I'd forgotten about the Boss GT1000. There's your 10 button modeller. Boss are smart people.

    This is a bit silly. But comparing the price per button you get:
    HX Stomp £156
    Headrush gigboard £150
    Amplifire box £140
    Helix £100
    Amplifire 6 £88
    Boss GT1000 £74
    Headrush Pedalboard £72
    Helix LT £65
    Amplifire 12 £54

    So there you have it. The new small modellers are overpriced and the smart choice is between Helix LT, and Amplifire 12

    With the world's worst interface ... what were they thinking.

    I think this will sell well for people like me who don't need complicated rigs and want to use some external pedals - ideal for live or recording. Add some MIDI switching and job done.

    As its got a much smaller foot print than my LT, this would be ideal for my small home set up

    If you don't want amp models, surely the HX FX would be better? I really don't need amp and cab sims, just something else for me to get bogged down in.

    This is adorable though

    I think the benefit is you could send the output to the PA or a recording interface, hence the amp sims. It means you could just need a pedal board and a guitar. No humping heavy amps.

    Are these the same amp and cab sims as the Helix? Are they any good?

    This is what I was hoping for as well. They could've gone down the Eventide H9 route with the different levels of things available at certain price points

    its £469 which is more than the HX Effects its seems like and odd price with a product that sits in an odd place in thier lineup.
