I put a gold logo on this, the other half is dead adamant it's all wrong with the chrome. Got me all unsure.. Could refin the head no problem at this stage, it's just in the first-pass checking for f-ups stage.
It's chrome hardware,

  • It's fine, there's a precedent:

Thanks! I have no idea why I didn't think of those ...  she got me thinking too hard I guess. Always dangerous.

    The gold colour is fine.

Even if the metallic areas of the logo were a silvery colour, yellowing of the clear coat would eventually make them appear faintly golden.

How about the glaring absence of control pots? ;)

It's fine. And I am not a gold fan in general.

It's fine. But we may need to talk about the TRC that doesn't even C the TR...

    Cheers chaps.

@Funkfingers pots is a thing, it's routed so I could add a neck pickup if I felt like it, so have been pondering whether to. Instead I have decided to build another Firebird. Three's the number to have right?

Thinking one pickup here, vol, tone and a Gretsch-style mud switch for quick flick to a couple of set things. With the right caps those can be great, with the wrong ones they can suck majorly. Maybe ditch the tone pot but a trim can be good to have with a bridge Filtertron sometimes I think.

    Ha!

Be careful though, you'll scratch up your lovely new 336 with that lot.

I'm not sure I could lift that, never mind wear it.

I can’t believe nobody’s picked you up on the blue fretboard yet..!
     ;)
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

Looks fine, although silver would have looked a bit more unique.

But what do I know? It's up to you and **** what everyone else says!

Truss rod :) missed that, it'll get a cover made later. Doing those shapes by hand is fiddly dullness

  • Great looking guitar! I wouldn’t have given the gold logo a second thought had you not mentioned it, looks fine to me. I don’t think that it really needs a truss rod cover, that headstock looks amazing just as it is.

Got to say that looks lovely mate. Really like the grain on the wings, and the striping is superb.

  • I wouldn't normally mix gold and silver myself, do I see her point. But gold logo goes with anything
