So I bought a Les Paul style kit build, Always fancied having a go at one, and thought that making or at least finishing my own build might help alleviate my current GAS.
I'm hoping to finish the guitar as a gold top (think 1957 gold top). Whether it's a dark back or not will depend on how many parts the mahogany body comes in. I wanted to get some advice on finishing the guitar. Do i add the gold finish directly onto the bare maple top and then coat in a thin layer of nitro?
And also what would you recommend for the back and neck of the guitar?
Apologies for my basic questions, I'm a newbie to this and just fancied learning a little about it.

If you are going light back then a light tinted lacquer is probably best, for a dark back my Medium Brown is a good match. I do have bronze lacquer for the gold too of course

I actually bought some aged / tinted lacquer from you a while ago, Would a coat of that on the top be better instead? Just to give it a darker aged feel?
Also how would you recommend i attempt to do a dark back finish? what products of yours would you recommend?
Thanks for your help!
The Clear Medium Brown will give the right colour for a dark back, see

The more you spray, the darker it gets of course.
