I'm almost finished - how hard can the rest be?
Having thicknesses the top by hand, I'm trying to find a woodwork shop who can do the back and sides for me - local instrument maker can't help.

BTW the back & sides look like they will be beautiful.

Step after that is to prepare the sides.

Sides have been bent.

The bouts are fine but the bend at the waist (on both sides) is imperfect.

And ideas what causes this - and how I can avoid it in future? The sides thickness is just over 2mm, and I followed the LMII instructions to the letter - both temperature and rate at which I applied the bend.
The causes can be multi-fold. It does depend on the wood, but over 2mm is just a touch thick which, while not being the primary cause, will not help. I tend to aim for thinner - closer to 1.7 - 1.9mm. Then, in a tight bend, the outside ( that is, the outside of the curve) grain has less distance to have to try to stretch. But the other factors can be the wood itself, how wet it was when bending, the temperature of the wood at the bend, the speed of the bending.
I've never had a bending session when I haven't at least heard the fibres begin to split in one spot or another. I immediately slow down, raise the temperature, resoak and concentrate the bending either side of the weakspot.
At least one of the acoustics I've done has a full depth superglue fix in place!

When I bought a job lot of mini-clamps on eBay for £5 I thought I was mad as I'd never need that many clamps. But I did.
