  • Ah, Ted Greene was marvellous. I think almost all the stuff on YouTube is low res home video like that - lessons, clinics, that sort of thing, but the playing really shines through, and the videos where he's talking the audience through what's going on are fantastically illuminating - and the one where he goes off on a Bach-style improvisation.

Probably a good moment to post this, again, too:

It's the player not the instrument
Even if you play jazz on a bc rich mockingbird it's still jazz
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Cheers that man! Love the sound he gets there, and the way he uses the extra solid body sustain - he later had a neck humbucker fitted, but the tone remained much the same. :)
