Planet Waves are another brand I avoid going by previous experience.
I used to say the same, but I'll have to admit that since they revamped the range a few years ago, the failure rate I've seen has dropped of to near enough zero. The old ones were absolutely terrible though, especially the ones with those 'concertina' bits on the plugs which tended to damage jacks as well.
I had a customer who plugged one of those leads into a combi Jack \ XLR  input of a digital mixer and when he tried to pull it out it come out with the guts of the combi socket as well .... meaning I had to change the socket on the PCB which meant stripping the whole thing down and a repair bill of £75

I have no idea what that stupid bit on the old Planet Waves plugs was meant to do but it certainly was good a damaging sockets

If anyone's interested in good quality but affordable cables I do Neutrik Rean jacks with premium shielded cable at £10 each for a 12 foot .... these are far more reliable than the Fender ones
