Well I went last night and he was amazing. His playing had great touch, musicality and expression as well as impressive tone. He talked about his playing, gear and life as a pro player in a medium dominated by the internet. He was very candid about making a living in the music business in general. Quite revealing.
He came across as an incredibly nice, down to earth guy quite happy to answer any questions that were fired at him throughout the evening. He seems to have simplified his gear in recent times, just using 2 pedals. Staying with Mad Proffessor, he still has the Deep Blue Delay along with the new Supreme dual overdrive pedal.....Oh and a bit of verb from the amp. Still the Two Rock. SVL (cough) Strat still in attendace.
Many thanks to John and his staff for putting on the event and staying until late. It was my first time to the Colchester store and it really looks great. Actually a good space for this kind event as well.
And, to top the evening off my son won a Mad Proffessor Royal Blue Overdrive, and I won a tee shirt. Result! The pedal sounds fantastic.
The modern blues guitarists leave me cold.
I cannot tell the difference between this guy and Andy Timmons.

Matt's a fantastic player and a top chap to boot. I'm gutted that I couldn't go - but I'm glad you had such a good time.
Matt is very good at what he does and, based on youtube clips, not a terrible communicator so I think there would have been something worthwhile to sit through in terms of the craft of playing guitar. Maybe not but that's how I'd see it.
