Anyone going to the opening this weekend? Would be good to get your feedback on if it’s improved on the old one. Parking certainly looks better! Cheers.

I was thinking of it but babysitting this weekend, I would also be interested in popping there sometime.

Though I keep telling myself "stop looking at gear to buy and play instead"!

Pop over and we can jam, I’ve got loads of stuff you can try out and I won’t sell to you! Seriously, let me know if you want to meet up and run through some songs.

BTW my wife told me on many occasions that looking after your own kids isn’t babysitting, it’s called being a parent. I still don’t understand that point of view.

I've been bombarded by Facebook ads for it. I'll probably go have a look at some point in time.

I agree that you don't babysit your own kids, although as I realise by the standards of this forum I am Mr Politicalcorrectnessgonemad  I wouldn't argue the point.

I got so fed up of the FB ads, I posted gay leather porn on it. Haven't had one since.

    Thanks mate I'd like that.

Your wife does have a point... I'll re-phrase to "my missus has buggered off to a Butlins 80s weekender with her family, so now I can't bugger off and leave her with the kids..."

My smalls get very excited by a trip to PMT in Bristol. Or as they call it (and make me very proud), The Toy Shop.

Mine are typically not impressed, "daddy stop looking at guitars now" etc.

I went that weekend.. weren't Quill on in the big room? Am I imagining it was called "Music Way" for a short while also?

I went to have a look. Lots of nice stuff, but it suffered a bit from being pretty much one big open space. There are side rooms for the acoustics, but there are no doors, so the amps in the main room were just overpowering everything. Of course, it was very busy so maybe it'll be less of a problem another time.

Also, my three year old wants a drum kit now.

Yes Quill were there. I remember them covering “Whole of the Moon”.

Always been PMT as far as I know

It was something else before, I can’t remember if Music Way is right or not - wrong side of Birmingham for me so I never went past unless I was going to it. Quite a long time ago though.

Every time I went to Bham PMT I was reminded how much I miss Exchanges.. now that was a guitar shop. To say I bought a bit of stuff in there is putting it mildly.

    Indeed, Mark...absolutely correct! :)

As for Mr. Average Guitar Punter...Errrr...yes, if you’re the kind of person impressed by a wall of 6,000,000 new guitars.

Agreed. Absolutely awesome shop. Used to go every couple of weeks in my younger days (when I lived near-ish) to see what they’d got in. Bought loads of stuff in there

Is that the one that was on Broad st opposite George Clay music shop? I seem to recall it being called Modern Exchange? I went there a lot as a kid in the early 70's never realising all those 60's Strats and Teles etc would become such collectables. Could never have afforded one at the time but the buzz of just mooching will always stay with me.
As for PMT used to go there but gave up on them as I could never find a parking spot.

  • Well, the PMT in Farlington Portsmouth is probably typical.
No price tickets on any guitars or expensive items.

So you need your phone to check online PMT prices while you are in the shop. That just seems so weird.
I sometimes think, therefore I am intermittent
