Gibson warning video over trademark infringements

I like the idea of a massive viral anti-Gibson campaign with its own website, slogan,hashtag (something like #PlayUnauthentic or #FuckYouGibson) with big name players like Slash, Bonamassa, et al., covering up the headstocks of their Gi*son guitars with masking tape whilst blow-up rubber Agnesi dolls float around being plooked senseless by people playing Fender guitars....

OK, the concept needs more work, but you get the idea...

A very worthwhile side rant imho, it’s not just an annoying technique, it gives an impression of insincerity. What do you do when you’re talking to someone and you’re lying or faking? You look away and you DON’T look them in the eyes!

My god this really has massively backfired.

“Dean Guitars – together with a number of other guitar makers – have already initiated an opposition proceeding before the US Patent and Trademark Office in a collective industry effort to curb Gibson’s attempts to claim exclusive rights to this generic shape,” he says, referring to the ES-335 design

All Gibson have brought to the customer is "we started making this guitar in the 1950s".

That's it.

They're basically accusing any player who picks up a non-Gibby "iconic shape" of being party to counterfeiting.

They've royally shafted themselves.

(& I speak as a happy Gibson owner).
