    Hello everyone!

My name is Michael Watts hence the imaginative username. I've been a guitarist all my life having worked as a session player for many years before entering guitar retail. Some of you may know me from my involvement in UK based companies specialising in luthier-built instruments. Some of you may not!

I am no longer involved in the mercantile side of the guitar world, but if anything I love the instrument more now than I ever did! My best bit of gear would probably be my signature MDW model acoustic guitar by Jason Kostal. That said I also love my other Kostal (a Modified Dreadnought in The Tree) and my Gretsch White Falcon.

One of my main musical areas of exploration at the moment is my Luthier Stories series on YouTube where I interview the men and women who make some of the finest guitars the world has ever known. The latest episode is right here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY_3R3L0CuE

My main musical ambition at the moment is to finish the writing of my second album H.Y.L.A.B which is going quite well at the moment!

I'm based in the South of England, mostly in Surrey and London but work and music takes me all over the world.

I'm looking forward to hanging out on this forum!

    All the best

    MDW

Hi my name is Colin, my user name would be the name of a mod covers band if I ever started one.
I live in Hemel Hempstead, Herts, but, I'm originally from kilburn London.
Im a bit to old for ambition now but would still like to play/rehearse with other boring old f##ts like myself.
Best bit of kit at the mo is my new/old Maybach Lester 59 in honey pie. It's what dreams are made of. Seriously lovely bit of kit.
Ironically,  my first single ever purchased was Dave n Ansel Collins ' Double Barrel' but I think what started it all for me was 'Have I the right' from the Honeycombes a long time ago..

Hi All! My user name is just my name with 31 added dont know why maybe just to extend it out a little, also just to mention it is nice to be here looks a very nice place to be.

I come from Luton in the UK and was also born in Luton as well.

Music i have liked all my life most types really, as for playing the guitar in total for 8 1/2 years now, but i had a 6 year break after 5 years and is mainly a hobby for me, also i enjoy talking about guitars and music with others as well.

As for gear i have a fair amount but my best bit of gear is maybe my Mesa Road King Amp can get some good tones from it.

Best track is maybe The Rocker by Thin Lizzy just love the solo it is really cool.

    Hi

My user name is the name of my business. Many meanings for the word Emprize but the main one is adventure ...

I am originally from Glasgow but have been living in York since 2003.

My main musical ambitions are to continue my 33 years of guitar playing until I drop, keep increasing my guitar collection, keep gigging.  On the amp building from I want to keep striving for those ultimate tones and share with people on the way 3

Marshall JMP1 from the nineties.  When I managed to scrape the money together after months of hard work I bought the JMP1 Marshall preamp.  In those days this, for me, was the amp to have. Heavy Metal, Long Hair, Rack Mount.

First Ever Track:  Such a hard question; based on one of my first bought records it has to be Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden.  The single was a 12” gold coloured record.. so cool at the time.

    Greetings!

Expat brit living in Thailand. I've owned a lot of great gear over the last 10 years. Guitars and amps from builders great and small. Scaled back over the last few years to a '16 D'Pergo Strat, a Fender '65 Strat, an '04 PRS Modern Eagle and a '61 Gibson ES175.

I like vintage Marshalls and Fenders and I've owned a slew of Boutique offerings over the years. Everything from Diezel to Two Rock, Carr to Friedman. I've been down that rabbit hole and made it out alive and all the amps I now own I've built for myself. I build my own amps as a hobby.

    Q1, Username:

It's my sir name, with ers on the end. Highly original, I know.

    Q2, Location:

Originally from Northumberland, Been living in Thailand now for about 14 years. Just North of Pattaya.

    Q3, Musical ambition

Play some music with other people. Nothing serious, just for fun. It's been over 15 years since my last gig.

    Q4, Best gear:

    Fender '65 Strat

    Q5, #1 track:

At this moment in time, Blackbird - Alter Bridge. Although, that might change in the next 3 minutes or so.

  • I was a full time pro solo vocalist guitarist for 13 years and retired back in 1980 to be with my wife and kids after spending all those years touring up to 40 weeks per year. I lived the dream, did well out of it and bought and paid for my first home by the age of 22 but it was time to hang up my guitars and settle down to a normal family life.

I never touched a guitar from that day as I didn't want to be tempted into going back on the road and then four years ago I got the urge to pick up an axe once again and bought a bit of gerar including a Zoom R24, 24 track recorder and had only just got into testing it out when I was taken so ill that they gave me weeks to live but that was nearly 5 years ago and I'm still here and I've finally got around to buying more gear and playing every day to try to get back to my ability all those years ago.

I'm enjoying it probably more now as I'm trying out new styles as well as those I used to play on the road. There's no pressure so it's fun.

Q1. My name is Tony but my username is named after one of my two pedigree BSH cats Jasper ( a grey one similar to the ones in the Sheba adverts).

Q2. I'm originally from Co. Durham but moved down to East Yorkshire in the 70s as that was where I bought a home so that my wife and kids could be close to her parents while I was on the road.

Q3. I've been there done that and got the tee shirt so my ambitions now are just to record some new tracks for posterity. I used to play quite an eclectic mix of music depending upon the audiences I played to . Primarily it was country / country rock / Rockabilly/ pre-white Rock n' Roll and a bit of blues and rock by bands like Bad Company.

Q4. Well I've just recently bought a Gretsch G5120 ...a great looking and sounding guitar in orange stain.

Q5. I can't think of one specific track as my tastes are so eclectic but I never get tired of playing or listening to 'Can't Get Enough of Your Love' by bad company.

@jasperthecat Welcome to the forum.  Thats an interesting backstory. Glad you recovered from the health issues. In originally from Hull so was intrigued by your move to easy Yorks.  Just wonder how easy you found it getting back into playing after such a long lay off.  Was the muscle memory still there?
