If you can envisage a Fender silverface Bassman head it was more like that. Old achool
all tube amp head.
About 7 controls and reverb. Classic amp head look and feel.
I remember the guy that sold it to me saying this is like a Fender only better! It was damn good too just a little clean for my tastes say the time
One of these?
Made by Triumph electronics in the early 70s, sold under the Johnson name but most notably under the VamPower name and used by Marc Bolan.

Bolan used VamPower amps - 20th Century Boy is a VamPower with the 'Bite' control turned all the way up.

This tells the story of the Johnson amps.
VamPowers are bloody amazing amps. I've had a couple of 100w versions and wish I'd never sold them. I still have a VamPower Power Baby 15 which will need to be prized from my cold dead hands.
Hope that helps.
