It's fair comment, I'd actually go one further and say that all the ex-demo and ex-display models are a bit of a swizz too, that's not what Black Friday is about, they go against the whole spirit of it.
The spirit of selling us crap we don’t need but would kinda like and if they knock 10-15% off then we’ll slobber all over it? (Soundtrack: Star Spangled Banner)

I was all on track for a wise and fruitless black Friday. Then I caved and ordered a pink Jackson sl4x this morning. Just put me in the sewer with all the other black Friday junkies
I've been on the fence about an SL4X for ages, but a couple of weeks ago I went for the SL3X instead. I think the bridge humbucker is more useful for me, and it was probably an early Black Friday sale: £609 reduced to £399 in Guitar Guitar

I was hoping to get some 6l6's but nobody is doing any valve sales.

Exactly, I find the whole de-commercialisation of Black Friday quite sickening.

Nice! How are you finding it? The SSS suited me a bit better and I'll probably Wang some telecaster pickups in it. They're pretty much the same guitar though ey? This'll be my first Jackson and first ever Floyd, looking forward to something a little different

I'm really impressed with it. I've fitted a push-fit trem arm which improved the feel of the Floyd hugely, and I had to tweak the truss rod to get rid of some first fret buzz, but now it plays brilliantly. It's nice and light, I love the lack of a heel in the neck joint, and I'm even pretty happy with the Duncan Designed pickups

  • Sounds great! I'll be getting it set up once I've decided how I want it so should be able to get all the tweaks done pretty quickly.
I have always had really really good results with Duncan designed pickups, I actually have them in my Japanese Jag at the moment taken from a squier, vastly outperformed the stock pickups and I think they sound a damn sight better than the quarter pounders I tried in there too.

  • The only thing I ended up buying was one of these which I needed anyway. Not a massive saving really, but enough to choose this over another polytune or TU-3:

Got a great email from Leeds United just now suggesting that I purchase a "Black Friday Sunday Treat".

I would, but seeing as it won't come until Black Friday Tuesday at the soonest if I order it Black Friday today I'm going to Black Friday give it a miss.

They do look good to be fair, £39 seems reasonable, interested to see how they work in practice
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me

  • @thecolourbox - aye, same here! I'm trying to build a very compact board, and a tuner is one of those must-haves that will be on there, but doesn't really need to be footswitchable to be honest so this just seems like a sensible idea. I'll likely run it from the tuner out of whatever wah / wah-vol I end up buying.

Just ordered an SL4X for £349, that extra £50 discount tipped me over. Was considering some version of a Satriani sig for more modern playing but the Jackson is much cooler. Went for baby blue, didn’t have the cojones for shocking orange or pink. Looks like awesome value for a through neck with a Floyd.

I believe these aren’t SSS but three Duncan Designed Hot Rails, so triple single coil sized humbuckers with proper Strat-style out of phase positions.

They are hot rails; my SL3X has them in the middle and neck positions. Not sure about the out of phase sounds tbh; I don't think I've really played with positions 2 & 4 that much

Yeah SSS hot rails - I've seen a few guys on youtube with texas special telecaster pickups in there however. I have a set of Bare Knuckle Yardbirds I might be tempted to try in the bridge and neck. Mine is arriving today I am very excited!!!!
Was a little terrified of the floyd but I've had a look at some set up vids and it seems simple enough.
    When is yours arriving?

  • The SL4X arrived today - Haven't plugged it in yet but impressed with the finish APART from the fretboard, which looks like it's covered in glue or some sh**. Anyway I'll sort that out and send Andertons a message....
This thing is seriously PINK and in need of a good set up, but after an initial play I cannot believe this is the first thin necked flat radius guitar I've played - Where has this been all my life I felt like a better player after about 30 seconds!

  • FYI - PMT have reduced the price of the Line 6 HX Stomp to match GAK.

You can still use the code to get 10% off. £379 - 10%!

Couldn't resist. Never seen one that cheap.
