Bit of a teaser thread... I’ve managed to get my hands on a nice ‘burst replica

It’s built to ‘59 specs but with a larger R7 style neck

I’m taking a little bit of a risk because it’s currently 1600kms away so I’m buying blind, but the builder has a great reputation and the pics look great, plus it was a very fair price (I sold a couple of guitars to fund it) ... and it’s got his name on the headstock  :)

it should arrive in time for Christmas - full review and more pics to follow, but here’s a taster (sorry, can’t get pics to embed on my phone)

    Same question from me as per @JD50 ;

    Looks to have plenty of character without having that OTT vibe

    I’ve lost the specs so waiting for him to send them through ... he winds his own pickups - these are slightly hotter PAF’s

    I got it second hand - I’d enquired previously about a burst build and so when this one came back into his shop he give me first dibs on it

    Price wise I had a good deal - i paid a fair bit less than new Gibson ‘60’s LP Std’s are selling for in UK shops at the moment - but a new build with him is not far off twice what I’ve paid for this

    Looks stunning ... I'm another one glad to see a replica with the actual maker's name on the headstock. Fakery gives the small luthier industry a bad name.

    Only managed half an hour plugged in, but bloody hell its good!  Reuben certainly knows how to build a guitar and I love the fact that he’s put his name on the headstock.

    It’s superbly put together and feels great, weighs 8 1/2 lbs which is spot on for me.  I’ve got a really nice Tokai Goldtop and an 80’s Greco LP that I have people interested in buying, but I’ve been holding onto just in case... but they’re definitely going now!

    It’s super resonant unplugged which really translates when it’s plugged in - the pickups are his take on an old set of PAF’s and they’re great - classic Les Paul sounds - they’re super articulate and the coil tap on the neck pickup is a nice feature, it gives a nice variety of sounds.

    It’s the kind of guitar that makes you play better and want to keep playing.  I’ll get some sound clips done next week.

    So yeah, you could say I’m happy with it
