After a couple of years of predominantly playing bass, this year I really want to try and get back into 6 string playing, particularly the swing kind of style that the lead guitarist plays in this video. Does anyone have any advice on good online courses or books to develop in this style from scratch? Cheers.

There's also good book by Stephan Wrembel on Gypsy Jazz Guitar, which is not perfectly idiomatic to non-gypsy swing, but is still a really good introduction to improvising in that basic style. I recommend the Wrembel book, because it takes a fairly simple approach.
In terms of rhythm playing, I can recommend some stuff if you are interested.
Jonathan Stout's blog is also worth a look.

I'm assuming the SotM backing isn't plagiarism as it's just a standard 12 bar in C.
