    You'd be surprised; I'm sure I remember reading that James Hetfield played a Tele on some of the tracks on Load...

    (also Mikey from Skindred, but his does have a mini humbucker to be fair)

    Yeah to be fair to it the teles pickups handle gain quite well! I'm sure with some amp tweaking it would be just fine
