Gear4music website has a few of these Subzero guitars on there. For 27inch 6 string baritone, its £250 which isnt too bad. Has anyone played one/seen one? Reasonable looking thing but its a new one on me...

Tomorrow will be a good day.

  • Just had a look. Some of them are quite nice looking, and the prices are amazing! I did think that the headstock shape is similar to the Gear4music branded stuff I've seen them do before; have they renamed that range?

I think it’s the ‘premium’ house brand of gear4music.
I’ve been tempted by a few of their models too.
There’s some videos of the old version of the P90 paradigm where it sounds great.
Get one and let us know how it is ( you can always return if it’s not up to scratch ) :)

    And there's the problem.

Looks nice, but will be made from recycled matchboxes.

  • Considering that g4m’s Hartwood range are likely to be fairly budget, where’s the nearest place you can actually check one out ‘in the flesh’?

Do they still have a shop/showroom Ooop North?

Well, if Titebond sounded THAT good, entire guitars would be made from it. :)
    Be seeing you.

I've just bought a Redsub bass from gear4music, which is another of their in-house brands. Out of the box the fret ends were uncomfortably sharp. 10 minutes with some wet & dry sorted it, but it was pretty bad - it actually marked my fingers. Paint is good but I think the fretboard has been dyed: it's quite patchy and it looks like there's a run on the back of the neck. I only want it for recording demos at home though so that doesn't bother me; it's actually got a really nice neck, and it sounds good too.
I bought it "nearly new" so I don't know whether it had been returned because of the fret ends, or whether it was just one that they'd had sitting around. All in all, for £150 I'm happy with it: I think if I'd paid the full price of £200 though, I might have returned it in the hope of getting a better one
