    Acoustic/electric?
    Fingerpicking/pick?
    Rock/blues/pop?

I can recommend a lot of fingerstyle instrumentals but not much else.

  • Lot of variables in this.

But the better known Freddie King ones - Hideaway, Sen Sa Shun, The Stumble.
Distinct melodies, some clever double stops, the odd chord, nothing very complex. Tabs, lessons, backing tracks easy enough to find. Plenty of covers if you want to hear them rocked up a bit and they will survive some element of interpretation if you don’t want to get them 100%.
Even if they aren’t familiar they are part of the history of rock as covered by Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Jeff Healey, etc, and just worth a listen.

The first solo my guitar teacher taught me was Californication by The Chilly Peppers, really good choice because it features lots of different bends - stop / release / unison - but is still pretty simple.

  • Not sure if the shadows or any surf guitar would be suitable as I’ve not played any  but could be a good starter

If I can manage a reasonable facsimile of this any bugger can.

I have been trying out wonderful land and apache from the shadows and Im getting there slowly. But there are some palm muted sections in both tunes that I just don't seem to be able to get right
