Binding channel went well:
UNTIL! The bearing self destructed. It was an unused bit, too
Luckily it was on the last few centimetres of cutting! A narrow escape for sure, I'll be able to recover it no problem, its maybe a mm too deep for a short length at the heel.
All seems to fit nicely when offered up:

I was thinking that, plus I already have the paint. I may use your etsy tip for the scratchplate too, as yours looked great on the hollow LP build
Also getting there on the neck, from this:
To this:
and yes, I'm working from a puppy training pad on a kitchen table...
Still loads to do, but looking ok.
Still to do:
- make and fit scratchplate (I bought a really nice piece of tortoiseshell acrylic for this, but it is too brittle to cut with what I have here - even the finest jigsaw blade splinters it. Have ordered some normal material)
- fit intended pickup when / if it turns up from Ukraine
- string up, let it settle in, set up etc
You can't see the tortoiseshell binding in these shots, but its there and looks nice against the black. Will take better pics once its all done. Thanks for looking! Onto the next build(s).....
Wouldn't you know it, I had wired up the placeholder pickup and this turned up from Ukraine:
25'' scale / 24 fret
chambered mahogany body
set cherry neck
walnut fingerboard
Cheap (but decent) Wilkinson pickup (until the one above goes in which is wound hotter)
Currently strung with 11s at concert pitch while it all beds in (does anyone else do this?)
Its a bit of a cop out, but I'd say its more tele than anything else... I could say it sounds creamy / has pronounced lower mids / is harmonically rich / single notes jump off the fretboard / articulate etc etc... but I'm not that guy
