Does this thread also apply to unsavoury guitars?

Most of these are perfectly fine - otherwise, I love the Masquerader (I have one, in wine red), and the St Vincent (there are very few branded guitars I still actively want, and that St Vincent right there, with the minihumbuckers, is top of the list. All, right, top of the list is a Feline Lion, but I don't deserve a Lion and the St Vincent is a close second).

    That's not a guitar, it's a MIDI controller
    Where is the Bond guitar?
The pair of Bonds are around somewhere, stashed away with the Stepp DG-1’s and DG-X’s.

That is pretty much what all my guitars looked like to me just before going on stage, until the big detox  :)

Let the Lol's and casual misogyny commence! That rosewood neck though...

The only thing I don’t like about that guitar, the ONLY thing is the apparent lack of easy upper fret access. Otherwise I think it’s amazing.
That’s easily solved by never playing anything up that end of the fretboard

I'll take the Kramer if you really don't like it. Give you my whole bank account (currently about £32) for it?
Just so people are aware. I have no idea what any of these words mean.

That's almost how I like my Marmite - but here you can still see some bare toast poking through.

In a more serious note: is this the same guitar on The Church's singles collection?

I'm sorry, I may be a bit thick, but do you think some people will hate it just because it was designed by a woman? Arrgh, if you're correct in this I seriously don't know if I want to live in this society any more.

On the purely aesthetic front, I really wasn't sure if I liked it. That is until I saw it in context being played by Annie - it seemed to make sense and looked better on a person as opposed to a blank background! Also, I love the idea of a guitar that is genuinely designed to be more comfortable for a girl - if my daughters decide to go with electrics when they get older I'll definitely make them aware of this instrument.

If I had a pic then I would post a pic of my long gone Ovation Breadwinner.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

The first time I came across the Breadwinner was in an interview with Robert Smith, he described it as his Banshees guitar, and that he felt it described or visually suited their music but never felt compelled to use it for The Cure.

As a side note, I am currently really drawn to an Ovation acoustic as a camping/surf/hiking guitar which I can throw in the back of the car and 3/4 of which is unlikely to be damaged! I just don't know if I've ever heard one acoustically unplugged & don't know if they sound any good!

I've heard a lot of them unplugged, up to a hundred at the same time... they're ... idiosyncratic. They don't sound the same as an all-wood acoustic, but they do have their own sound. I like them a lot - it's a very contained sound and I enjoy playing them, but opinions vary a lot.

Avoid Applause guitars, which really aren't as good, but if you can find a US or Korean-made Ovation, give it a shot. The super-shallow body (the 1969 custom legend model, for example) is really comfortable. If it comes with a hard case, that's a plus - they're bulky but built like tanks.

Okay, cool. I shall try one out when I find an old one for sale.

I am curious as to why you were hearing a hundred of the blighters unplugged at the same time!? (I'm sorry if that was a funny joke that I'm too thick to get!)

I was wondering about the hundred of them comment, too...

I've played a couple unplugged and they sound good to me. I totally get what @Grangousier means about it being a "contained" sound, that's a good way of describing it.

My only gripe with the ones I've played has been that they were quite slippery, so they tended to slide down my leg as I played and need constant adjustment
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I'm probably the only member of this forum mentioned by name in Whiskey in the Jar ;)

@terada ; I love that first strat! want!!!

To be honest, I abstained from voting negatively on peoples guitars, it seems a bit mean. No LOL votes from me although there are some I don't like personally.
