BTW mine had a patch of nitro burn as well but it was only on the black edge but it faded away with time and some gentle polishing with T-Cut.
I'll be sure to ask about the case as that's definitely grounds for money off if it isn't included.
Regardless, it plays great, feels great and I'm really really happy with it.
I think sometimes we can become fixated on trying to get the absolute best price possible on 2nd hand stuff (even if the difference ends up being 50 quid, which in the grand scheme of things is not a vast sum). I'm quite guilty of this, but for instance I paid the same for a roadworn Tele a couple of years ago, when they were going for nearly a grand new, and I never looked back.
Put it another way: I think 650 for a nitro finished strat, with fender on the headstock, with the specs you like, is a pretty good score. Let's face it, if fender was reintroducing these now they would be a cool grand, so getting one at 65% is perfectly acceptable.
Enjoy the guitar!
I might upgrade the pickups in time to a 57/62 set or similar, but otherwise it’s got everything I need.
I’ve always rated the pickups in the Classic Series, but I decided this was a good enough Strat to deserve a hand-wound upgrade, and I put in a set of Radioshop Vintage ‘63s
