So a few weeks back I get a message from a forum member… “posted you a tele body and neck… sort it out with an aged finish… oh… and a p90 in the neck”
get in says I…
this arrived in the post a few days later along with a bucket of parts…
First job was to plug the neck pickup hole and route for a p90…make a pickguard then bung it all together to see where we were at:
A few issues popped up… the ferrules at the back were not even close to being in line…
And the bridge mounting screws had been drilled in the wrong place leaving a big gap down the side of the bridge and the low E string too close to the edge of the fretboard.
It was out this by this much…
Holes were plugged and the bridge relocated so the string alignment is now correct…
So onto paint, body was sanded flat, grain filled and sanding sealer applied then a coat or two of primer…
After flatting that back, a couple of coats of Inca silver were sprayed..
Then the lovely candy red on top.
Then clear coats and wet sanding, buffing etc
Parts were aged and then the guitar spent some time in the time machine!… and here we are…
The neck received the log and was also aged… (didn’t get pics of that being done soz)
Just needs a final set up before being thrown in a very sturdy hiscox case and couriered lovingly oop north!… contrary to what you may have read elsewhere on the forum, it ain’t left here yet
peace out poopot x x x x

Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after youNice stack of tone wood in the background also : )
A ) the other post was great, sucked me in at first and then the penny dropped.
B ) I would say I'm not interested in having a guitar aged, but that looks damned good and frankly I could be tempted!
How do you get the checking on the paint work to happen? The worn sections I can understand, but the checking is a mystery to me (general principles, I'm not looking to steal your method or anything!)
