Withdrawn 1969 SG Jr , 1975 Gibson S-1
What's Hot
Edit - L6 SOLD
I’ll start with the L6 which is all original and in vgc. It plays great , has loads of tonal options because of the variotone switch , tone control and separate mid control , is lightweight (8lb dead) and for a while was a favourite of pre Telecaster Prince and pre PRS Carlos Santana.
Downsides are few , the back of one of the tuners is missing which doesn’t affect anything unless you are changing strings when you need to be a bit careful and it doesn’t have a case - I’ve got a newer Gibson gigbag.
I do have a box and loads of Buble wrap so postage isn’t an issue.
I’m pricing this low for a quick sale - get yourself a cracking almost 50 year old Gibson for £1195 now £1095 !

Theres a great article about the design here , turns out he was asked by Gibson to design an SG with more sonic options originally but persuaded them to come up with an all new design

PS , had an enquiry re weight and it’s 8lb dead
£1095 !!!
I recently picked this up from our friend Colin of The Guitaristas fame via Reverb (and what a lovely chap he is, exactly how you'd expect)
I'm not bonding with it unfortunately, its a year of birth guitar for me but thats not imparting any extra mojo believe it or not so I'm playing my Fenders a lot more and this feels like a fair chunk of cash that can be better used elsewhere non guitar related.
Looking for what I paid for it which was £3150 which seems decent for one of these. Its got a replacement Gibson lightening bar bridge and kluson tuners but its original other than that with no breaks. Frets are even , fat and fairly low and it plays and sounds great.
I'll get some of my own photos up tomorrow but tbh my iPhone efforts are always awful whereas on Colins original ad, you have great photos and a video of the guitar being played too

Comes with a nice Hiscox case so postage wont be a problem although probably fairly expensive
Adding a lovely almost 50 year old S-1 , all original except for replacement tuners
The original 3 Bill Lawrence blade pickups give you some fantastic sounds including humbucker options using the variotone style switch.
Has picked up numerous dings and battle scars over the years but no breaks or anything worrying. At some point someone sanded the back of the neck back to natural which feels lovely - they may have sanded the serial number away as it’s not visible but in the mid 70s Gibson did experiment with serial number stickers on occasion and it wouldn’t surprise me if that sticker had just fallen off as the sanding is very even across the back of the neck and headstock
The guitar plays fantastic , sounds great and holds tuning better than any Gibson I’ve ever played.
