1967 Guild Starfire V factory white custom colour. Played but well looked after.  Listed elsewhere online but at a lower price here.  Dropped price to £3100.  A lot of vintage guitar for the money.

Custom order identified on the label in F hole. This is the only white Starfire V known to exist from this period. White wasn't even listed as a custom colour in the 60s catalogue.

Made in Hoboken New Jersey in 1967. It has both factory 1967 and 1970 serials. I spoke to Hans Moust the author of The Guild Guitar Book. He thought it was made in 1967 and factory painted in 1970 for a custom/artist order. The f hole label has a 1970 serial and the headstock has both 1967 and 1970 Guild serials on the back.

Peruvian (Honduran) big leaf mahogany neck with maple centre strip.

Maple centre block with spruce kerfing.

Maple ply top, sides and back.

Fret edge binding.

Nitrocellulose finish.

Dark rosewood fretboard. I think IR but possibly braz.

60s Guild humbuckers (which sound great)

Comes with Gator ABS hardcase that fits perfectly.

I've had a few Starfires and this one has the fullest neck and a 42mm nut. Medium C profile. The other Starfires I've had were pretty slim.  The neck is beautifully played in with plenty of fret life.

It's very sweet sounding and resonant instrument.  It was a high end guitar in its day and made to compete with the Gibson es335/es355 guitars of the time.

All original except for some old schaller strap buttons that were on it when I purchased it. I've owned it the past 14 years.

Collection from Southampton preferred due to the guitars age and rarity.  Postage via UPS fully insured £80.  Given the woods used to build the guitar I can’t post internationally.

Tom Foggerty from Creedance Clearwater Revival played a custom white Starfire VI (very similar to this guitar but had a maple instead of mahogany neck).

It’s a 1931 Pye Radio converted into an amp.  I saw the same radio in a museum the other day and felt slightly guilty.

Lovely guitar … I have a 63 Starfire 111 with the D’Armond pickups…build quality was definitely on a par with Gibsons in that period . Are those the 60’s  Anti-
    hums in yours?

  • Hi Pumkin- yes they’re the 60s humbuckers.

Iv not tried a Guild with the D’Armonds- they’re rare beasts. I had a 60s Standel with the D’Armonds and it was fantastic for Jazz and Rockabilly.
