BIAS FX2 alternative that sounds good

Ok after about about 5 years of using BIAS FX2 extensively for thousands of recordings (personal at home), I've finally concluded that I cannot get a decent high gain tone out of it at all.  They all just sound lifeless, dull, uninspiring, basic etc etc.

In short, my ideal plugin would get me Vai tones in a box ;-)

I need to find an alternative that isn't as expensive as the Fractal or Helix route.  Open to suggestions

Neural DSP has free trials of their plugins - maybe the Petrucci one could be worth having a go on?

A lot of the stuff from Nembrini Audio is worth checking out, and always affordable.

    Neural amp modeller

Loads of great profiled amps - just need some IRs to go with them. They'll definitely have Carvin Legacy, JCM 800 and Rockerverb amps n amongst the list
