Yamaha RBX170

I play 6 string guitar - acoustic strumming, bit of electric rhythm and struggle with lead. I fancy a bass, if I get on with it I'd maybe look to gig.

A bass wizard friend of mine has a Yamaha RBX170 he'll sell me for £120. It's nice. He also has a Kustom practise combo for £40.

Is that a good setup for a novice? Seems like a versatile instrument, nice feel and well made.

I started playing about 15 years ago and my starter bass for about 3 years was a black RBX170 and it was fantastic so I'd say the bass is perfect for a beginner or intermediate.

Not sure on the Kustom amp, which model is it?

No idea about the amp, but yamaha make great basses at all price points. If you've played it and you like it then fire in :-)

£120 might be slightly on the high side, I'd check out eBay for a decent idea of the going rate.

  • RBX basses are good. Mine's a 375. :)
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself
