False widow spiders...

What's Hot
Anyone had any dealings with getting rid of these? A family of them has taken residence in our shed. I've seen what can happen if you get bitten by one, so am dreading having to clear/empty the shed ahead of us moving house.

I've put down spider traps (basically sticky pads for them to get caught on) with no joy so far.

Empty a whole can of raid in there, it’s not the nuke from orbit option but it will work.

Can you buy those 'bomb' aerosol things here? I remember my mate in Aussie using one to rid a room of fleas. Push the top, it goes off like a fire extinguisher, you vacate the room for a few hours. Worked a treat.

Hoodie, boiler suit, riggers gloves. Clear shed taking care not to squish any residents. Everyone happy! No multiples of seven years bad luck either..

Fuck that. Padlock that bad boy up forever and just buy a new shed.
This week's procrastination forum might be moved to sometime next week.

  • Perhaps read some more sensible material about them based on actual science, rather than tabloid nonsense and scaremongering clickbait junk.

    a) you are unlikely to get bitten
    b) you are unlikely to have an allergic reaction if you do get bitten

Thanks for the assumption, but it was based on a work colleagues reaction to a bite that has got me concerned, I’m sure his foot wasn’t pleasant before the bite, but the state of it after :|

I had to do the  garage once when I brought a house. The garage had a sloping roof and hundreds of spiders had taken up residence high in the apex ... webs were everywhere it looked like something out of a horror film. To say I don't like spiders is something of an understatement but I put on a boiler suit, gloves and a hat and went in there with a large garden vac ... like a ghostbuster and sucked em all up. Then I sealed the garden vac in a large bin liner and threw it out with the rubbish,

Red Raid or Acclaim flea treatment spray. If in doubt, use both.
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....

Can you not just squash them? It’s quick and easy and far less hassle than using chemicals or traps. I didn’t know traps were an actual thing for spiders.

I broke down our shed and there were loads of them. I just squashed them. Job done.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

We have loads of Noblis spiders around, they are really very docile.

Do you need what's in the shed? Just leave and call it a draw.

I would suggest getting some conkers, but it’s the wrong time of year for that.

Hitting spiders with conkers is a very cruel thing to do.

    Shame on you.
