If the Gain is turned all the way down (off) does it become a normal EQ pedal? or do you have to have some gain dialled in?

You need to have the gain knob above zero, but it can be dialled to unity.

The EQ itself is active: each band can either cut or boost.

One good trick with these is to stick it as a boost before an OD and increase the mix from zero to max using an expression pedal into the jack on the right-hand side.

This lets you raise the gain of the OD gradually and to whatever level you like, using your foot
