saw a documentary on Slade a while back on the TV and was quite surprised at how good these guys were.....Noddy singing and playing rhythm or bass guitar, the bass player playing violin and so on,these guys were very good musicians and a great band.

must have been something to see live

now that I remember, they did a really good beatles cover.....i'll see if I can find it

If it wasn't for that Xmas song their legacy would be very different.

I read Noddy Holder's autobiography a few years ago and it was obvious that they were a band that had paid their dues before hitting the big time. They could certainly rock. Just check out Slade Alive. Joey Ramone was a big fan too! \m/

Saw them live in the 70's when they gigged a lot in Bristol they were excellent  they looked like a Skinhead group but played heavy rock

First time I heard this, I played it again, and again.

I was on-air at the time, so it wasn't well received by everyone, but hey ...

(apologies, this video is a bit dodgy)

The sound is slightly more Big Country, but the tune ... wow! It is just a tiny bit reminiscent of Skye, isn't it!

Silly to let a good tune go to waste ...

Of course Noddy received the ultimate accolade - the voice of the lifts in Walsall art gallery. There is a version of the band still going, I bet they are fun.

I think Slade could have rocked any venue back in the day. They must have really worked at it back in those days.

Anyone who thinks they didn't write great songs should put on "How Does it feel?"

Doesn't the cover of "Whatever Happened to Slade?" Show the band how they looked before Long Hair?

One of the best feckin live bands ever. Period!
Just listen to the first track on Slade Alive.  Their power was amazing, and by God they knew how to build it up.. The excitement at that gig must have been amazing.

'Slade Alive' is one of my all-time favourite albums. Cracking band, and live they were amazing! Noddy Holder has the most powerful voice EVER.

I'm sure I read that Noddy used to shit on glass tables for the sickos laid underneath them for money when he was poor. It elevated my respect for him after hearing that.

I would rate Slade alongside The Faces in terms of their back catalogue. They're a fantastic band.

Slade are ace and rock live.

Saw them at Donington MOR 1981 and they livened up the crowd really well.

Gudbye T'Jane and Mama Weer All Crazy Now are very good rocking songs IMHO.  Slade was one of the first 'Rock' bands I listened to in early 1972.  My cousin had a Pioneer hi-fi, he had the album Slayed by Slade and Harvest by Neil Young.  I always had a soft spot for both......
