Steve Albini - RIP

What's Hot

Whilst I know we have a tributes sub forum, I thought Albini would suit the general discussion as he had a huge influence over the 90s alt rock/grunge/noise sound.

Far too young. I was looking at going to see Shellac this year (and have the vinyl on pre-order!)

    Well that's a shock

I was listening to St Vincent talking about recording at his studio only a couple of days ago.

    Uncompromising innovator.

I didn’t always agree with his opinions, but his existence in music was really important. Baws.

Totally gutted! Saw Shellac a few times, he's worked on a bunch of my favourite records, and seemed so generous with sharing his knowledge and opinions. A sad loss.

I first heard Big Black on John Peel many years ago... Some of my favourite albums were recorded by Steve Albini. That was a shock.

Very sad, the guy's a total legend. Saw Shellac a good few times and even kind of met him once.

That’s truly shocking -  I was so in awe of his playing, production and opinions.

A true genius, and a great ear for melody.

Was lucky enough to see Rapeman and Shellac - wished I’d caught Big Black…

    What a loss.
