What's Hot
HarrySevenHarrySeven Frets: 8033
edited February 2015 in Guitar
During the lonely watches of the night, I was reflecting on the piles of tat large amount of quality gear I own and wondering if GAS would ever subside.

With that in mind, I started to put together a list of stuff that I am either a. actively/regularly looking for or b. that is likely to turn my head on eBay/Gumtree, etc.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, there's nothing new on here (but equally, there's no Fender, Gibson, etc - although I could be tempted by a suitably battered Explorer):

Guitars:
Stepp DG-1/DG-X
Another Bond Electraglide
Another SynthAxe
'70's/'80's Jap Stuff (Satellite, Columbus, Antoria, Kay, Kimbara, Lincoln, Cimar, Westone, Aria, Hondo, Kawai, Jedson)
Older Ibanez, including:  Roadstar RS-315/RS1000CS, Destroyer (DT-400/DT-500/DT-555), Iceman IC200/210/400.
Yamaha (SG/SL)
Washburn (G-20/WT-24, etc)
Early Roland GR systems/controllers – GR-100/300/500/700 and Ibanez IMG-2020 X-ING
Hohner Professional series - L-59T/EX
Microfrets
SD Curlee
JayDee
Hayman
Shergold
Kramers (inc. XL-5)
USA Hamers
USA Robins

Pedals:
No specifics here…
Old fuzz things
Quirky old time-based/modulation effects

Old rack effects/Preamps:
Ursa Major
MXR M-113 Digital Delay
MXR Delay System II
MXR 126 Flanger/Doubler
BEL Delays
DeltaLab Effectron II,
Yamaha D-1500
Marshall Time Modulator
Powertran Digital Delay Line
Rocktron
Ibanez delays (AD202, DM2000, etc) and multi-effects
ART (SGX/X-15)
ADA MP-1/MP-2, etc
Nomad Axxeman
Yamaha FX-550/770
Ibanez UE-400/405/700
Tom Scholtz Rockman system
Vintage AMS, Dynacord, Eventide
The “Roland Rack” system (SPH-323, SBF-325, SDD-320, SPV-335, SVC-350)
Korg SDD-2000/3000
TC Electronic TC-2290, etc.

Amps/Combos:
Nothing specific re. valves (vintage Marshall/Park/Laney, perhaps - or maybe another Twin), but I like Solid-State amps from the ‘60’s/‘70’s/’80’s:
HH IC-100/VS
Peavey Stereo Chorus 212 (or 400, etc)
Peavey Programax
Redmere Soloist
Roland JC-120/160
Gallien-Krueger (250ML, 206MLE)
Kustom Tuck’n’Roll stuff
Vintage Randall
Vintage Traynor
Pearce G2R

It's a bit of an odd mix, I know...

What's on your list?

  • Guitars:

Gordon Smith GS1 single cut, HB
A nice, stripped down Gibson of some sort. Quite regretting selling my Flying V Faded last year...

    Amps:

    Marshall JCM900 Dual Reverb
    Orange CR60

    Pedals:

    Chorus
    Delay

Not too adventurous in terms of pedals, as you can see...

God, nowhere near as much over here.

    - Luthier made S-type to my spec's, this year.
    - R8 Les Paul (used and older tho, as I'd have to get it refinished in the 'proper' stuff), likely not this year.

    - An Orange amp, though this is likely to be sorted by this Saturday, fate prevailing.
    - Another Bluesbreaker combo. Probably this year.

That's about it fella's. Easily pleased me.   :)

    Guitars:
    Jazzmaster
    Aria Les Paul
    Bass VI
    Something with bent frets
Rosewood Strat or Jazzmaster (tee hee)

    Amp:
Either AC30 or Genz Benz Black Pearl

    Effects:
    Ibanez DFL Flanger
    Dod Classic Tube
    Boss CH-1
    Digitech PDS8000
Something cool from Mr @Badgerific :)

  • I'm pretty much there, I think; perhaps some upgrades on the guitars I have.

    Missing items:

    12 string electric
    Bass VI
    ES-175
    Pedalboard(s)

The only thing that I could somehow justify and put into some use, out of all my GAS list, is an 80s Ibanez semi, like Scofield's.

A telecaster (or preferably an Esquire- I LIKES single pup guitars). That's it.

It's funny seeing BassVI listed by @JookyChap & @guitarcookie1- I have the Squier one. I love it, but don't know why! I've considered selling it, but think I'd miss it despite rarely playing it. So it stays (for now).

I know what you mean about the VI. The best I can think is that it is like playing a bass, but for musicians ;)

  • What do I want?

    A better spaced pedal board.

What am I going to buy? Sod all. Back on the wagon for now...
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

    Nice loud clean valve combo.
    Offset guitar of some sort.
    DC Jnr of some sort.
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

A Two Rock or Tone King of some description. Going to check out a load of those tomorrow.

    A Marshall Jubilee reissue.

Suhr Classic S Antique. Preferably pink with a black bucker in the bridge.

    A few new pedals.

    Time frame... Hmmmm not sure.

First amp, hopefully any time between tomorrow and a few weeks.

Jube, March onwards. When places look like they're selling out, I'll get on it.
Maybe even wait for the Rush to die down and snipe a used minty one off ebay.

Suhr Strat. Dunno. Next time I have £2k kicking around I suppose....

Realistically not much else at the minute - apart from a good 5-string bass.

Flights of fancy though... how long have you got:

A black LP Custom, preferably early 70s
    A Gibson L6S
    A nice R8
    A Gretsch Black Penguin
A nice CS Tele or two (one would be a sparkly blue one with Filtertrons, one would be a blackguard or a double-bound Custom...)
A Tom Anderson Hollow Drop Top, an Angel, a Cobra and a Raven
    A USA Jackson Soloist
    A Jackson PC-1
    A USA Jackson Rhoads
    A Washburn EC29
    An EGC
    A custom-made 7-string, perhaps a fanned-fret Strandberg
    A custom-made 6-string with 29 frets, a flat Floyd and a Sustainer
A Kauer Banshee and a Daylighter Jr
    A Potvin Jupiter
    A Myka Sungazer
    A Scott French SF3
    A Gibson Frank Zappa SG
    A Gibson ES-345 1964 reissue
    A Rickenbacker 330-12
    An early 70s hardtail Strat
    A Bilt Relevator
    A USA Dean ML
A Charvel So Cal, one of the 2008 USA reissues in a bright candy colour
A CS Gibson Explorer or V
    A Hallmark 60 Custom (Mosrite)
An Ibanez John Petrucci model, would have to be from 1995 to match me
An Ibanez RG550, 560 or 570 from the late 80s or early 90s
A Music Man Axis Supersport and a JP6/7
A PRS Custom 24 and DGT, both with flame tops and in crazy finishes, and a 24-fret natural-finish Mira
    An original USA Reverend Slingshot
A Schecter Kenny Hickey signature model
    A Teuffel Tesla
    A Fender Bass VI
    An Ibanez SR4005
A Warwick Thumb NT 5 string
    A custom Thunderbird-style 5-string bass
A Fender CS relic Jazz and Precision
    A Sadowsky or Overwater 24-fret Jazz-style bass
    A Dingwall ABZ 6-string bass
