RotM #10 - Chat

Here's the 10th Riff of the Month (RotM) Challenge, being run by @Antique_Guitars and @TTony.

The challenge is now open, and remains open for submissions until 24th May.

All you have to do is ...
Write a guitar riff. You can include whatever else you want in the mix, but the main focus must be on the riff.
Keep it to a maximum of 50 seconds. This is about riffs, not songs.
Challenge opens on the 1st of every month, and closes on the 24th of the month.
Voting opens on the 25th of the month, and closes on the last day of the month, when the winner will be announced.
Let us know if you would like your entry to be anonymous.
Send your tracks to riffs@theFB.co.uk

The tracks will be uploaded to our SoundCloud account and saved in a playlist that will be linked below.

PLEASE GIVE CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK ON PEOPLES RIFFS AND RECORDING TECHNIQUES IF YOU HAVE TIME

Could I please ask for all submissions in mp3 format?

I'm hoping to get time to enter something - I've got to get the Composition Challenge finished by the 15th first, though.

Let's just say that the competition for 2nd and 3rd places is looking a little sparse.

COME ON, COME ON, COME ON ... get some riffing entries done & in

    :)

mine are both mp4, sorry @TTony ; if anybody can point me to a way to convert mp4 to mp3 I'd be grateful and if you could make the explanation easy enough for an idiot to understand I may just get it..

mp4 should be OK @kin ... it's when I get uncompressed formats that my not-very-broadband suffers.

For future reference, Audacity is great at converting anything to pretty much anything else. And it's free. Well worth downloading a copy.

@kin - your RotM entry was quite short (17sec) and ends quite abruptly ... just checking that that's what you intended to send?

    Entry emailed in.

This was recorded on a mate's Charvel pointy-headed P/J bass (the 'Capt Beaky' of the title) that I was doing some work on. While I had the bassin my possession, I was gifted a VFE Dark Horse distortion so I thought I'd find out what it sounded like with bass. The amorphous backing is built up on my DL4 looper and the drums are from an old Zoom Sampletrak sample player.

    I just sent something in.

30 mins ago, I didn't have anything to send in.  So that should set your expectations.

    (It's a bit Penguin Cafe-ish, I think).

@TTony ; Did my entry arrive ok (one for the raw rotm too)? There's no playlist at the top of the thread for me to check.

@steamabacus - yes, I can see them in the inbox, but (for some reason that I don't understand) I can't upload them to SoundCloud from the inbox on my iPad.

@Antique_Guitars - can you upload them?

    Cheers, Chaps.

Although I know nothing of this 'iPad' you speak of. My computer has no such quirks but it does take quite a lot of coal to keep the fires stoked.
    ;)
