Hey everyone welcome to our new RAW RotM Challenge!

This is the 4th RAW Riff of the Month (RotM) Challenge, being run by @Antique_Guitars and @TTony.

RAW is different to the other riff challenge because you are only allowed to submit recordings with one layer of guitar and no other sounds, this is all about one amazing riff and nothing else.


The challenge is now open, and remains open for submissions until 24th June

All you have to do is ...
Write a single guitar riff.
Keep it to a maximum of 50 seconds.
Challenge opens on the 1st of every month, and closes on the 24th of the month.
Voting opens on the 25th of the month, and closes on the last day of the month, when the winner will be announced.
Let us know if you would like your entry to be anonymous.
Send your tracks to riffs@theFB.co.uk


The tracks will be uploaded to our SoundCloud account and saved in a playlist that will be linked below

Email'd....I've been listening to The Melvins a fair bit over the last two weeks.

Emailed my effort last night.

Cort Zenoz z1 into orange 10w practice amp into tesco hudl 2 tablet via mic. Recorded using audio evolution app and mastered using wavepad. Just a quickie, but wanted to get something in this month as I was flat out in may and didn't. All the best folks.

The Melvins! F*ucking love the those guys, have pretty much everything they've ever done. Have you a hair style like King Buzz? LOL

Electro-nylon into Strymon Timeline for a touch of delay and into the HoF for some reverb, then stereo line out into Tascam DR-100.

Tuning is DADGCE. 

Edit: it sounds a bit like 2 guitars but it is just one

Mr Antiquey was/is uploading them this month.  I just did mine directly into SC rather than emailing it to him.

Cheers bro.  It is a "djent" rhythm preset in Bias on the iPad.  I think it's Misha Mansoor signature patch or something.

@TTony that is an awesome riff, loved the groove of it...i think would have been cool with a little less gain maybe?

Just listening back to my riff there, and I'm thinking I'm taking the lo-fi thing, where guitar is concerned, a bit too much for these comps. Way too much distortion etc. I'm thinking next time, instead of crappy Hudl 2 mic etc, using my mac pro and logic or at least garageband.? Any thoughts from anyone on way or nay? Would appreciate some constructive criticism from you guys/gals.

I'll maybe purchase Bias amp for my ipod touch as I love the tones @bingefeller gets. It's less than a tenner, so a bargain.

Yesh man I would recommend it.  It's really great.  I think it's the best modeller for iOS.
