Did you read the rules for the Classifieds before posting this?

For an £1800 guitar you really need to include some decent photos.

  • TTony - I thought I could upload them of my phone but I can't for some reason. They will be ASAP when I can get on my desk top.

Thanks Matt but I'm not sure my tremonti is the one he's after as mine is a normal charcoal burst.

The pics need to be hosting on-line somewhere (Flickr, Picasa, etc), and then post a link to them here.  You can't upload pics direct to the forum.

There were two Axcess models released from the custom shop as core line models from 2098-2009. One with a Floyd and one with a stoptail. I'm lucky enough to have one of each, as the are far more comfortable to play than a regular les Paul. This is is a 2009 model. They only do the Akex Lifeson model now unless you order from the custom shop.
I just play my PRS more because the pattern thin neck suits my 'child' hands so I thought I'd try a Tremonti.

So these are a little lighter than a standard LP?

Also has a more carved out back than standard?

    Thanks,

  • They are a little lighter, although because of the weight of the floyd  and its components etc you can tell a lot of difference, with the stoptail you can.  I think they are 5mm thinner as also.  The back has the neck joint carved/scooped out to allow easier access the the upper registry and has a slight "belly scarf" carved out (on par with a PRS, not as much as a strat).  Very comfy to play.

  • They do vary a bit. I almost bought one a couple of years ago that was 7.5 lbs even with the Floyd. Regret not getting it - I ended up buying a stoptail model and although I love it (after a bit of modding) I wish it had a trem.

I can vouch for the Les Paul Axcess. Picked a stop tail one up a few months back and its kicked every other guitar I own into touch. Much more playable at the dusty end for my stumpy digits, much lighter, but still great looks and tone.

Not a purist's LP, but it definitely ticks the boxes for me

Ooooh, lovely! I would love that but it can't happen unless I win the lottery unfortunately. Super guitar.

  • Price drop to £1700 as the PRS Tremonti I want has also been dropped, so available until that is sold.

I think it's actually a bit more complicated.  The nomenclature is incredibly confusing even by Gibson standards, but as well as the Les Paul Custom Axcess Standard (mainly available with a Floyd but with some stoptails) there was the Les Paul Custom Axcess Custom (mainly available as a stoptail but a minority had Floyds).  The latter (which is what I have)  are based on a Les Paul Custom - triple binding, ebony board, rectangular inlays, diamond headstock and there were obviously fewer of them made. They were around £900 more expensive.
