Ah C Maj7, the most natural of all the major 7s for a guitarist. The main verse section of band on the run has the classic switching back and forth between C Maj7 and F Lydian Maj 7 - x32000, xx3200 - lovely!

That Cmaj7 is also in Iron Maiden's Children of the damned..... the clean verses as arpeggios

When I started learning the guitar, C Major was played: 332010.  Nice and full 6 string chord especially when played on an acoustic guitar.  Later I figured out [Mark Knopfler influence??] xx555x or xx5550 which were very useful on electric guitar.

Here's a close piano-style voicing that's almost impossible to play but sounds great if you can reach over with the thumb, otherwise tune your B string to a C:
