...and I've drilled out part of the headpiece, next step will be to clean it up with a chisel and finish with the router.

Excellent stuff. Going back a few posts, I know how you feel about sides not bending how you want them to, and that horrible sound of "craaack". I had a back brace split about 1" on me last night doing a dry-run of closing the box.... Apologies if I have missed the discussion, but how do you plan on finishing this?
Adam
Ok, I've used TruOil on necks and a couple of electric builds before. Easy to use, good finish. I seem to recall that Melvyn Hiscock uses that in his Build an Acoustic book...

This is horribly complicated compared to building a Strat or a Tele.
Acoustics do involve a very steep learning curve. Worth it in the end, though...
Great thread

Good job I accidentally ordered three times as much kerfing as I should have, as a second lot is required for the second set of sides.

Looking good, it's always nice to see the sides go on. Are those clamps made/converted by yourself?
I really must update my ukulele and bass WIP...
Adam
oooops, sorry I missed that. Very clever idea - I have a few of the longer jaw Klemsia clamps, but never happy with their clamping pressure. Your conversions look just the thing.
Cheers,

...next up was to increase the depth of the heel to match the full thickness of the guitar body...

..and finally chisel out the guitar top for the neck tenon.

How are you planning to set the neck angle?
