Apples and Oranges.

the first is in the Employer -v- Employee relationship and thus is under 1 set of rules. AND is currently being appealed where I expect it to be reduced by a shitload.

the 2nd is not an employer situation and is under a different set of rules, and thus comes down to whether the reporter was actually in fear of being slapped. If not - then nothing. If yes - then causing fear in another person is Assault (Public order offence) and there can be damages, probably of about £500 to £1500. It doesn't affect her job / employability etc.

I think Moyes remark was ill-judged, but most people would probably just see it as banter. He's apologised, it probably won't happen again. Although sexism etc needs to be called out, I think that the world sometimes gets too sensitive and offended by it all. We point the finger at him, he feels a bit of a twat and apologises, the world moves on. No-one needs to resign.

The other one sounds like a silly amount of money, but then we don't have all the facts. Pretty much anyone in the world would say, I'll put up with what she did and take the money thanks.

Or did she just get on with her job/life?

She just got on with stuff.
If Moyes had said those comments to a male reporter nothing would have been said.

Yes, I get that a physical threat from a man against a woman can be taken as more threatening because of the perceived physical advantage the man has over the woman, but in this instance it wasn't taken as a genuine physical threat, more of an exceedingly crass and twattish comment.

And he WAS challenged on his comments, and I support that totally. What I am not so sure about is the additional interest this has generated because they were aimed at a woman.
