Does it actually matter though, it takes me 10 seconds to tie my shoes, even when I single knot them, they come undone once a month at worst, and it really doesn't bother me.

I think you're over-optimistic about the continuing survival of the monumental mason trade in the event of a zombie apocalypse.

I recently bought some Kiwi round laces and they keep coming undone, so I'm going to try an experiment - I'll spray them with starch and see if that helps.  Anything to increase the surface friction should do it.
